I have been worried about my computer's performance for quite a while now. I've search the world wide web trying to find solutions to my problem. I have tried the usual recommendations: clean up disk space, defragment disk, repaired disk errors, removed spyware and malware, yet still I haven't noticed any changes.
My job requires couple of software to run and these software eat up my computer's memory. After few hours running the same set of applications, there came a point that my computer becomes really slow and I find it hard to work because the speed is just so annoying.
I had the idea of buying additional ram. But just right before I rush to a computer shop, I found a really good trick to speed up my computer. The trick is called "ReadyBoost". It's a feature available to Windows 7 and Windows Vista. It's concept is it adds memory to a system using a removable drive like a USB flash drive or a memory card and it comes to rescue when your PC's memory is running low. Follow the steps below to turn on ReadyBoost.
1. Plug a flash drive or memory card into your computer.
2. In the list of Removable devices (My Computer), right click the inserted drive and choose Properties.
In my case, I used my 4GB flash drive and dedicated all space for ReadyBoost.
I find this concept very effective. Since I started using it, I haven't experienced any pc speed problem anymore (given the same set of software I'm using) even if my pc has been working for 8 hours. It saved me from spending some bucks. ;)

4. To use the maximum available space on the flash drive or memory card for ReadyBoost, click dedicate this device to ReadyBoost. If the device contains files, the files remain, but Windows will use the rest to boost your system speed. To use less than the maximum available space on the device for ReadyBoost, click Use this device, and then move the slider to choose the amount of available space on the device you want to use.
5. Click OK to save the settings
